  Spare a thought for the ten cyclists from HSBC and first direct starting their 147.5 mile marathon charity cycle ride at 6am from the Golden Mile on Friday 22nd June.  The team are aiming to ride from Blackpool to Bridlington in a leg busting 12 hours to raise £12,500, or just a little over £1000 an hour for ChildLine, the bank's partner charity.

30 members of staff and customers at Lea.b and Hamilton based bank first direct will be braving the physical challenges of completing the London Marathon this weekend to raise over £60,000 for the bank’s partner charity, Childline. This year first direct call centre staff based in Leeds and Hamilton will once again take the 1.6CC's 'Letter from Santa' Campaign calls.  With all hands to the phones, the bank's CEO, Mark Mullen, stepped in and took some of the calls himself1. In 2010 the scheme raised a massive £1.3million and this year's target is £1.6million.
