Moneynet Personal Finance Awards 2013 - Winners announced

10 Jan 2013

first direct named Best Current Account (overdraft)

Moneynet is proud to announce the results of its third annual awards recognising the top personal finance providers and products from the last twelve months.

John Sexton Managing Director of Moneynet said: "It has been another testing but highly competitive year for banks, building societies and credit card companies but some have easily outperformed their peers with some 'best in class' deals for the consumer.

"Despite the uncertain economic backdrop and the record low base rate, there have been some first class products on offer and we are pleased to recognise the market leaders and innovators for their achievements.

"The market remains awash with drab and poor value products, but if the consumer is prepared to shop around and seek out the winners logos, these awards prove that there are still some real gems to be found.

"Our research team has analysed the Moneynet data for the last 12 months and identified those products with the finest rates/fees, whilst also taking note of product features and innovative ways of giving the customer an all round good deal.

"The awards are focused on a prolonged period of competitive pricing, not a best buy lasting just a few days or an initial introductory offer."

In some instances, products have been the most consistent in their particular field for two or even three years running and will be recognised by new 'Double Gold' or 'Triple Gold' award logos introduced this year.

"Highlighting the top products recognises the commitment from each of the individual winners, and the Moneynet winner's logo will give consumers guidance, reassurance and confidence when selecting the products concerned."
