first direct triumphs at Which? Awards 2016

first direct has been recognised as the UK’s Banking Brand of the Year for an incredible third year in a row at the highly regarded Which? Awards.

Which? is the largest consumer body in the UK, and the Awards were launched in 2007 to celebrate and reward companies and individuals that consistently get it right for consumers. They’re presented to businesses that have achieved positive change and deliver excellent products and services as judged by Which? research and member feedback.

In the ten years Which?  has  been  holding the Awards first direct has scooped  the award for Banking Brand of the Year a record five times in total, and has taken the gong for the Best Financial Services Brand three times.

The 2016  Awards  focussed  on innovation and the changing expectations of consumers  over  the  last decade, and first direct was celebrated again by appearing  on  the  shortlist  for  a  special 10th Anniversary Award which recognised strong performance across the 10 years of the awards.

Tracy Garrad, chief executive of first direct , said:

“These awards are so important to first direct because they are completely independent and it’s our customers who are saying they like what we are doing. We work in an extremely competitive market and we know we need to keep innovating and delivering consistently great service and products.

“I believe it’s our people that really make the difference for us. We put our customers at the heart of everything we do and it’s amazing to be recognised for this.”

Peter Vicary-Smith, chief executive of Which?, said:

“Since the Which? Awards launched we have seen a consumer revolution, with rapid change in consumer behaviour and expectations transforming the way businesses  interact  with their customers. A Which? Award is evidence that these businesses are engaging customers with what they do and delivering products and services of the highest quality.”
