first direct makes the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies list

07 Mar 2011

first direct has scooped 56th place on the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies list announced this Sunday.  In October, Best Companies surveyed 912 UK businesses in the private sector to assess an organisation's commitment to being the best it can in every area of the working environment.

Not only did first direct achieve a place on the list, but also received a two star Best Companies Accreditation rating for being an outstanding company to work for, which is truly an amazing accolade for the direct bank and the highest it has achieved. What's more, it's the only company in the banking sector to achieve a two star rating.

This year's survey is the most comprehensive yet with more than 275,000 private, public and charity sector employees contributing their opinions across no fewer than 70 aspects of their workplace. It is now widely recognised as the UK's definitive survey of workplace satisfaction.

first direct staff voted that they loved feeling part of the first direct family and enjoy the buzz created, illustrated by coming 23rd in the "my team" category.  They also scored highly (24th) in the "fair deal" category signifying that people feel happy with the pay and benefits they receive for their role.

first direct is also delighted to be in the top 30% of companies to achieve a good work/life balance, demonstrating how its onsite services and the support it offers play a huge part in enabling its people to manage daily pressures.
